Training

Sabena Aeroclub has set up the first English speaking theoretical course for private pilots. The club organizes theoretical courses in Dutch and French on a continuous basis. Passing the theoretical exam is the first step to getting the Private Pilot License, allowing you to fly Cessna or similar light aircraft, throughout Europe.

The course is given on the Grimbergen airfield. The course is oriented towards the international community and expatriates living in BelgiumOf course, Dutch or French speaking candidates can participate in the English course, but they may choose as well to enroll in the Dutch or French course.

The main purpose of the association is basic pilot training, which is necessary in order to obtain the Private Pilot License (PPL).
To people of all ages, who dream of flying a small airplane, the PPL is the key to realising their dream.

  • The first step is taking theoretical classes. These lessons take place saturday afternoons, from September until June. Non-members of the club are also welcome to attend this course.

  • After the theoretical classes, or even during the course, the club offers the candidates the chance to fly under guidance of experienced instructors.

  • And when the whole process is finished, the new pilots can enjoy flying on sunny and beautiful days.

The club also wants to offer an opportunity to fly. New pilots, who just received their license, usually join the Aeroclub
in order to exploit their dreams to the uppermost level. Many members continue to drop in to fly after they’ve got their PPL.

But some members, mostly younger people, don’t just ‘stick’ to the club: they leave for an other training organization who
hands out the Commercial Pilot License (CPL). The Sabena Flight Academy (www.sfa.be ) for example, provides professional training.

The Sabena Aeroclub offers both a valuable pre-training and real hands-on experience at an affordable price. After all, the Aeroclub
is a non-profit organization. The club is also JAR (Joint Airworthiness Regulations) approved by the Directoraat Generaal Luchtvaart
(the Belgian CAA) under the refence B/RF-019.
